Accessibility

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), 2005 became law on June 13, 2005. Under this landmark legislation, the provincial government developed required standards that identify, remove and prevent barriers for people with disabilities. The vision of the act is to have an accessible Ontario by 2025. The Township of Billings is committed to accessibility in our communities.

Communication Supports and Alternate Formats

Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

A Multi-Year Accessibility Plan describes how the Township will meet accessibility standards over a five year period. Council adopted the Plan in 2020. This fulfills the requirements set out by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and completion of the bi-annual Accessibility Compliance Audit Report. Council agendas are also provided in an accessible format.

2020-2025 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

The Township website design has been developed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 AA CSS with responsive design for desktops, mobiles and tablets.

By January 1, 2014, all website content, documents and tools were required to be in compliance with the provincial standard, which is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level A.

Beginning January 1, 2021 all public websites and web content posted after January 1, 2012 must meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA.
