The Township of Billings, the Town of Gore Bay and the Township of Burpee and Mills are seeking members for an Election Compliance Audit Committee.
Election Compliance Audit Committee
Under Section 88.37(1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (the “MEA”) Municipalities are required to establish an Election Compliance Audit Committee (the “Committee”) for the 2022 to 2026 Council Term.
The Township of Billings, the Corporation of the Town of Gore Bay and the Township of Burpee and Mills invite citizens to apply to the Election Compliance Audit Committee. Applicants must have a thorough understanding of the campaign finance rules and be at least 18 years old. The Committee will contain 3 members, one from each of municipality listed above.
The Committee is responsible for reviewing and making decisions on Applications for municipal election campaign finance compliance audits by electors and on reports from the Clerk respecting apparent contraventions of contribution limits.
Members of the Committee shall serve the same term of office as the Council that takes office following a regular municipal election (2022-2026).
